Dr Joseph Murphy - Pray Your Way Through It

…There is but one Truth, and all sacred writings are parts or fragments of the ancient wisdom, which has come down to us from time immemorial. In the study of comparative religion and sacred writings we must come to the conclusion that a secret, traditional wisdom, an arcane science, underlies all these ancient writings. In early times this Gnosis, or secret wisdom was guarded zealously, being imparted only to those deemed worthy of initiation. The Bible is a psychological and spiritual textbook containing the laws of man’s mind and the way God works.

The Book of Revelation is allegorial and mystical – not historical. We must not construe allegory as history. People have tried in vain to give the Apocalypse an historical interpretation; others have looked upon it as prophecy predicting world events. The Bible does not deal with predictions of future events such as wars, calamities, destruction of the world, etc, The Old and New Testaments do not talk about future events and the destiny of nations. ..

The subject matter of the Book of Revelation, or Apocalypse as it is often called, is veiled in symbolic, figurative, and allegorial language. This method was used by all ancient writers of the Bible, who were masters of allegory, in order to preserve and guard the sacred sciences in their true inner meaning from those who would purposely destroy them. Furthermore, they held that thosewho are morally unworthy should not receive the inner teachinguntil they had proved themselves worthy to receive it.

If the book had been written in clear language and its inner meaning revealed as a great psychological drama taking place in the consciousness of man, it would undoubtedly have been destroyed by the hands of the first great dictator who came along, whether a Nero, a Ghengis Khan, or a Hitler.

I have always felt that the Bible was more a miraculous story leading us to make higher conclusions on fact about ourselves that is more sepctacular then most can imagine. Experiences I had as a young adult growing up in Eastern Oregon lead me to believe in a higher interpretation of the Bible and I have been frustrated by literal interpretations for as long as I can remember. As an adult with more years of thought and experience I have often formed the same opinions that are present in Dan Brown’s newest book and what Dr Murphy is discussing here about the Bible.

I have refrained from sharing these thoughts with great numbers of people but those I tend to surround myself with closely generally seem to agree with these ideas when it is discussed. The first thing to make me think the way I do was actually the Bible itself. It so frequently talks about man being created in God’s image. I have never forgotten that and have difficultly understanding why church sermons don’t dwell on this more often other then man has an obsession with personal power over others.
The great illusion that is most commonly perpetuated by religions rooted in the Christian views certainly make many powerful and wealthy men even more powerful and wealthy as they build their flocks.

I don’t know enough about other religious texts in general to say that they point in the same direction as the Bible but certainly in the end what most people would say is more miraculous and less believable to me is the opposite. Humans don’t tend to believe in things they cannot see or touch. In my personal experiences in life the only way to make sense of what most people call miracles is to believe the higher science that is implied but not pointed to directly.

Things don’t just happen they happen for a reason and the very reason itself is awe inspiring because it means more then the simple more frequently accepted beliefs of how seemingly unexplained things occur. Unfortunately although a wider acception of these beliefs would enable even greater accomplishment in mankind creating a new era for us all; put in the wrong hands like those who are too power hungry and mearly wish to control the masses it could cause immeasurable turmoil. Until the scales are balanced with enough of those who understand the greater power within all of us but are just and honorary individuals who would not abuse such power against those who would abuse it I only hope this knowledge and the ability to use it stays quietly hidden from the masses. Otherwise who knows what sort of wars could come between man. Frotunately it is not only the knowledge of it but the ability to use it which holds us in check. Just like with any great ability it must be practiced and honed to be useful.

I have to agree with Cassandra up to a point. I feel that what we know we need to get out to the masses and let them decide for themselves. If we hide all this knowledge when will the world we live in begin to change. We most certainly are not going in the right direction now. The common thread that connects us all needs to be mended and that I believe comes from knowledge. We have lost that connection and I see it in something as simple as YouTube. I put up 5 small exercise videos that give tangible evidence what we can do with our minds. “Qi and Reality” . The comments I have gotten back tend to be that I am unable to change anything without magic or tricks. This is the mindset we need to change to evolve and that will come with knowledge and education.

The death penalty is a controversial idea today. Well, if you want to know where the death penalty came from, it comes from God and God pronounced it. But we fled from it and we complained against that sword. That is too harsh. Can’t God just kind of tone things down a little bit? Why does he have to be so narrow-minded and dogmatic? Well, if we couldn’t believe what God said about the wages of sin is death, why would we believe what He says about anything. God cannot deny himself. He cannot go back on His Word. So, we fled from that sword.
